Kristine Angeles, Purpose and Fulfilment Coach

Kristine coaches women of color who are navigating the nine-to-five. She helps them find moments, passions, and gifts that make them feel happier and more purposeful at work.

Kristine left her job in corporate law and joined the coaching space to help more women like her and start meaningful conversations around life and liberation.

She knew that building a business would mean going all in on her dream, but she didn’t want to burn out in the process.

Kristine needed two things at this point:

A sustainable way to stay organized and feel purposeful on her journey - which she worked through with Jess 1:1

Education and mindset work to step into her power as a liberatory leader - which she learned in Embolden, our signature group program

Here’s Kristine’s story.

Background

When I was transitioning from a nine to five to my coaching business, I noticed that my energy was drained and I knew that wouldn’t be sustainable.

I was coming from corporate law where you had to be super organized - things had to be done a certain way at a certain time.

I was unsure how I was going to take care of myself in this realm. I knew I wanted MORE for myself, but I didn’t want to burn out creating fulfillment for myself.

The Challenge - before working with Jess 1:1

Jess was super thorough. I remember filling out a detailed questionnaire before our Intensive.

There were 2 calls, and after each call, I had the recording and then notes Jess had drafted up for me, which was super helpful.

The notes not only had our takeaways but she also added exploration questions - things to think about. And then to address whatever came up on the call, she found resources for me and shared them with me

Jess was always really present with me.

The way she talked to me… it was as if we had known each other for a while and had worked together before. I felt very understood in the way she coached me - even though that was literally our first time.

Kristine’s experience working 1:1 with Jess

After working with Jess, I’m more intentional about my energy and how I stay organized in my business.

I have started referring to the lunar cycle to check in with my energy levels and orient myself.

And, I stay organized with tools like Notion to reduce overwhelm. I’ve also learned how to prioritize and break down larger projects into smaller tasks, and I’ve built in habits like journaling which allow me to unravel.

I know I can do a couple of hours of intentional work and still take things forward (instead of sitting at my desk the whole day feeling tired and unmotivated). I have so much free time and I’ve questioned this aspect a lot.

But now I know I’m showing up for myself in a big way and this feels sustainable.

The Impact

I had just gotten out of a group coaching program where I was one of two women of color.
And, I felt like there was a lens missing - I didn't feel safe talking about my experiences as a BIPOC woman because I felt I wouldn't really be seen or understood.

I joined Embolden because this aspect was at the forefront - that it's a safe space for women of color and other people with marginalized identities. I wanted to validate my experiences, so it felt like the right decision for me.
Kristine’s Experience in Embolden - our signature group program
This was a 12-week program where we had calls and guest mentor sessions each week, which were amazing. And at the end of each month, we met with Jess to embody what we had learned.

I was particularly interested in the decolonization modules because I wanted to learn more about how power dynamics show up in the coaching space. These were eye-opening - I’m so glad I jumped in at the right time. Now I know what NOT to do to cause unintended harm as a coach.

The Challenge - before joining Embolden

“Embolden has SO much substance compared to other programs I've attended. I learned how to ask the big, necessary questions and started to see myself as a leader.

In fact, before Embolden, I thought only charming people who can channel a room can lead others.

But now I know in my bones that even though I'm this quiet person in the back who wants to empower her small circle, I can do it in my way without overthinking and judgment.”
